Armadylan (real name: Dylan) is one of the supporting characters of the PJ Masks television series. Being Tatouro's counterpart from another universe set in a vigilante setting, he is a nighttime hero who eventually becomes a member of the Power Heroes in "Moth Boy." However, at the end of "The Curse of Armadylan," he decides to continue working alone but still promises to help out whenever the others need him. He first appeared in the Season 2 episode "Meet Armadylan."

Official Website description

Early

A character that wants to be a hero! Armadylan wraps into a ball and thunders about the city trying to do all the cool hero stuff but doesn’t really see what it means to be a hero and ends up trying to outdo the PJs and wreck their plans, siding with the villains instead!

Later

A big, strong kid, who thinks he’s one of the heroes! Armadylan's pyjamas turn into a bulky suit of armor, armadillo-style. He’s invulnerable, super-strong – and can roll himself into a ball and thunder about. With these amazing powers, he’s decided to be the best hero ever – but it doesn’t always work out that way!

History

In his debut episode, when he first met the PJ Masks, he didn't know how to use his powers due to inexperience and initially used them against other nighttime villains over incidents that he himself was often responsible for, such as attacking the ninjas for supposedly littering.

When the PJ Masks attempted to show him the right way to use his powers, Armadylan instead misinterpreted this as them not thinking he was a real superhero, and threatened to crush them.

As a solution, the PJ Masks decided to use their own powers against him so that they can help him on learning how to use his powers properly in order to become a real superhero.

Physical appearance

Armadylan is identical to Tatouro, except for a few minor differences such as having an armadillo symbol, an orange mask with an armored helmet, and additional armor on his outfit.

Alongside most of the Noctambules-masques, his day time identity is currently unknown.

Personality

Armadylan is shown to be quite clumsy due to his powers unintentionally causing problems for himself and those around him. While usually friendly, he is also short-tempered and prone to fits of anger whenever someone offends him in any way. His temper and gullibility have also led him to side with villains on a few occasions. Regardless, he has a good heart deep down and always tries to do the right thing in the end.

Despite his brash exterior, Armadylan has on a few occasions revealed a more sensitive side to him, such as being a fan of the superheroine Flossy Flash, and not being afraid to show emotion.

Motive & Abilities

Motive

Originally, in most of his appearances, due to his gullibility and/or inexperience with being a hero, Armadylan was shown doing antagonistic actions that often helped the nighttime villains achieve their goals (mostly Night Ninja).

These antagonistic acts generally varied from stealing the PJ Masks' vehicles, building a HQ with Romeo by using playground equipment, or accusing the heroes of wrongdoing.

Aside from that, however, there were times where he did help the PJ Masks defeat villains, in order to show that he could be a good guy.

As of Season 6, Armadylan has undergone character development and is no longer gullible, nor is he as clumsy or short-tempered. He has also learned to control his powers better and be a true hero.

Abilities

  • Rolling Thunder: Allows him curl up into an armored ball and roll around at high speeds.
  • Dig Attack: He can tunnel underground.
  • Super Strength: Same power as Gekko. They appear to be evenly matched in strength.
  • Thunder Thump/Ground Pound: He is able to create strong shockwaves by punching or kicking the ground.
  • Armor-Plated Smash Attack: An ability which allows him to destroy anything with a punch.
  • Armadylan Power Armor: He can use his body to hit things over long distances.
