Synopsis
The episode opens in the museum, where Pharaoh Boy uses his Staff of Ra to cast an unnamed spell on a book about Ancient Egypt.
The following day, Connor, Amaya, Greg, and Ivan visit the Egyptian exhibit in the museum and come across the book. The librarian, Mrs. Taylor, tells them it is a new addition to the collection. The kids are certain that Bastet would love to see this. Connor tries to take some photos for her, but as he does so the book suddenly emits a bright flash. Amaya doesn't trust the book, and the kids decide to check it out that night.
After transforming and meeting up in Power Q, Catboy shows the other Power Heroes the picture he took. Bastet is intrigued, but insists that she should check out the book alone. She teleports to Earth using her Sun Disc. Owlette, Gekko, and Ice Cub follow her in the Owl-Glider. Bastet arrives at the museum first. She claims the book contains secrets of great desert magic, and that she has been looking for it for centuries. Pharaoh Boy then enters through the portal in the sphinx statue and proclaims he is there to steal the book. Bastet grabs the book to keep it away from him, but it turns out to be a trap; the book suddenly sucks her inside thanks to the spell Pharaoh Boy put on it earlier, causing whoever touches it to get trapped inside. And since Bastet didn't have her Sun Disc with her (it had been knocked away during their confrontation), she has no way of escaping.
Owlette, Gekko, and Ice Cub also arrive in the museum. Pharaoh Boy quickly retreats to The World Beyond in hopes the heroes will also take the bait. From within the book, Bastet hears the others arrive and once again insists she doesn't need their help. Unfortunately, by doing so she causes Gekko and Ice Cub to pick up the book and they both get trapped inside with her. Only Owlette is left behind. Bastet tells her friends not to worry, as the desert magic in the book can be used to free them. She enters the cave depicted on the adjacent page and comes out with a magic staff she dubs the Desert Cat Staff. Owlette is disappointed that Bastet didn't tell them that this magic was the reason she wanted the book, and fears that staff can't be trusted. Her suspicions turn out to be correct because the instant Bastet activates the staff, Owlette is also sucked into the book.
Bastet doesn't understand why the staff failed to work. Ice Cub takes a closer look and notices a lizard and bird depicted on the staff, meaning it is not just for Bastet. She, Owlette, and Gekko try to activate the staff together. It works, and all four heroes are able to leave the book, though they are still small, flat paper figures. Bastet realizes it will take more teamwork to restore them all back to normal, and accepts the help of the other three Power Heroes.
Pharaoh Boy returns, and the heroes plot to trap him inside the book so he will be forced to undo the spell. They begin to taunt him, making great use of their current state to evade him. While Owlette, Ice Cub, and Bastet keep Pharaoh Boy distracted, Gekko uses his tail to make him trip and fall into the book. The heroes also return to the book to confront Pharaoh Boy. Out of options, he tries to reverse the spell, but his attempt fails. Bastet realizes it's because she is still holding the desert cat staff. Knowing that she cannot bring it with her, she returns it to the cave. Now Pharaoh Boy's counterspell works and both he and the heroes are set free. Pharaoh Boy retreats to the World Beyond while the heroes shout their victory cry.
