Synopsis

The episode starts off with Connor, Amaya, and Greg playing frisbee in their neighborhood. As they practice their playing moves, Connor misses catching his frisbee, so he runs over to get it. When he returns, Amaya and Greg have disappeared. Initially thinking to be a prank, he sees their frisbees left behind. Under one of them is a circuit board. He scans it under the PJ Picture Player that night, which reveals a robot, meaning that Romeo has captured them.

Catboy finds Romeo at the end of the alleyway through his Super Cat Ears. Owlette and Gekko appear, apparently working for him now. A couple of voices shout out, so Catboy fires a couple of furballs at a lamppost to shine on the source. Three cages are shown hanging, two of which contain the real Amaya and Greg, who have been captured since they don’t have their powers during the day, while the Owlette and Gekko outside are actually robot clones. Romeo’s plan is to capture the PJ Masks so he can take over the world.

Amaya tells Catboy to free her and Greg so they can help him. Catboy believes that they can’t do so without their powers, so he prepares to get their pajamas, only for Romeo to reveal that he has them in his lab. Additionally, when Robo-Owl and Robo-Gekko go after Catboy, not only do they have the same powers, they also have lasers that temporarily freeze anything, such as his tail, with the help of Romeo’s Super Computer, which took him two years to build and power and perfect his robots.

This will give Romeo enough time to lock up Catboy when he didn’t have the chance to do so earlier. Once he does so, now aware that he has his circuit board with him, he can retrieve it and power up Robo-Cat. Robo-Gekko fires a laser at Catboy, but he jumps in the Cat-Car upside down. His tail eventually unfreezes from being zapped, so he presses the autopilot button on his control panel, and the vehicle drives away.

Catboy fixes himself and prepares to turn around when he hears Romeo’s lab after him. Robo-Owl blocks his view, although he shakes it off and pushes it away with the Cat-Car’s Cat Roar. He buckles up Robo-Gekko, who has boarded his vehicle. However, it shoots a laser at the eject button, and he gets shot out. As he parachutes down, Romeo and the Robo-Masks return to the alleyway. The robots then keep an eye out for Catboy since he’ll also return to free Amaya and Greg.

Amaya and Greg see the Cat-Car, but no Catboy. Worried that something bad has happened to him, they use Amaya’s pink wing hairclip to unscrew the cage bars so they can help him. Catboy speeds back, sneaks in from above, and warns them not to escape because they don’t have their superpowers, despite them telling him that they don’t need them. He starts to move, but he accidentally clangs the cages against each other, catching Romeo’s attention.

Catboy runs across the buildings and jumps in the Cat-Car to lead Robo-Owl away. With its Super Gekko Camouflage, Robo-Gekko takes the circuit board from him, holds him down, and throws it to Robo-Owl, which then gives it to Romeo. He inserts it into Robo-Cat and waits for it to power up. After struggling to free himself from Robo-Gekko, he presses his tail on a button, causing the Cat-Car to move around. Freed, he pounces towards Romeo, but he moves out of the way, and he lands on the Super Computer’s button, activating Robo-Cat.

With all the Robo-Masks activated, they trap Catboy, and Robo-Cat fires its lasers to freeze him. A garbage can lid suddenly flies in and deflects them towards it. The ones responsible are Amaya and Greg, who have escaped thanks to Amaya’s hairpin. Catboy thanks them for saving him, and apologizes for not letting them help out before, finally realizing that they can do so even without their powers. He runs over to Romeo to grab his remote, opens the lab containing the magical pajamas, and gives them to Amaya and Greg so they can finally transform into Owlette and Gekko.

Robo-Cat eventually recovers and chases Catboy while Robo-Owl and Robo-Gekko tackle Owlette and Gekko. Catboy manages to get away, but when he looks at the four figures, he can’t tell which ones are the real Owlette and Gekko. Nevertheless, he knows who his friends are, so he picks up a couple of trash can lids scattered from the attack and throws them while keeping one for himself. The real Owlette and Gekko catch them through their frisbee moves, and the team performs their special frisbee move.

In a few moments, Robo-Gekko gets trapped in one of the cages, and Robo-Cat and Robo-Owl crash into each other. Catboy runs off to get his trash can lid after he misses catching it. The two robots recover and advance towards Owlette and Gekko, so he throws it at Romeo’s Super Computer. It gets destroyed, and the Robo-Masks shut down for good. Romeo is forced to escape, leaving the PJ Masks to proclaim their signature victory phrase.

The next day, Connor, Amaya, and Greg are playing frisbee again. Amaya and Greg disappear, but this time as a prank, knowing that Connor wouldn’t take so long looking for anything if he had his Super Cat Speed. Amaya notes that Greg wouldn’t have to hide if he had his Super Gekko Camouflage. Nevertheless, the three friends agree that they’re an amazing team, with or without their superpowers. Connor gives back Amaya and Greg’s frisbees, and the PJ Masks resume playing.

Moral/Lesson

  • Never judge a book by its cover.
  • Don't be overprotective (work with others).

Trivia

  • In this episode, Romeo introduces Robo-Cat, Robo-Owl, and Robo-Gekko, powered by the Super Computer.
  • This is the first time that only one member of the PJ Masks headed to HQ.
  • This episode reveals that Romeo knew the PJ Masks' real identities and names the whole time.
  • Romeo says that Catboy wouldn't be able to tell the robots apart from the real PJ Masks. However, he most likely would, because the robots act more robotic, and have mechanized voices. This still somehow fools Catboy, though.
  • In this episode, an alternate version of the transformation sequence lyrics can be heard. However, in the French dub, this isn't included and kept the French-language lyrics of the transformation sequence.
    • This is the first time Lionel doesn't appear in the transformation sequence.
    • The transformation sequence also edits out Owlette and Gekko from being seen in the sequence. However, their parts of the sequence are featured near the end of the episode.
  • This is the first episode with the word "Vs." in the title.
  • Romeo capturing Connor's friends while he was a short distance away from them off-screen is similar to Shadow Moth using Sentibubbler to capture Rena Rouge's civilian form's friends and family off-screen while she was a short distance away from them in the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir episode "Sentibubbler."
  • Justine Cheynet debuts as a writer in this episode.

Errors

  • In one scene, Amaya passes her hair clip over to Greg in order to unlock the cages. However, in the next scene, it reappears back in her hair.
