Synopsis
The episode starts off with Connor, Amaya, and Greg practicing for the school dance-off tomorrow. Amaya and Greg show Connor a new special move called the Spinning Tornado. He tries it out, but crashes into some supplies. Amaya and Greg help him up and calm the other kids from laughing at him, then assure him that the move takes practice. Embarrassed, he just states that he has plenty of moves. Just then, the moths give the kids an invitation from Luna Girl about a dance party outside HQ tonight. They decide to go for the purposes of practicing their dance moves and finding out her true intentions.
That night, the PJ Masks leave HQ upon hearing music and find Luna Girl with the school’s loudspeakers. It soon reveals to be a trick as she traps them in a Lunar Dome that covers the whole area surrounding HQ and goes deep into the surface. She leaves to take everything else from the school dance so she can have a dance party all to herself and prevent the school from having their dance-off tomorrow.
Gekko is unable to break through the dome with his Super Gekko Muscles, and Owlette can’t fly out, so they suggest that Catboy do a super fast spin to tunnel the team out, similar to how the Spinning Tornado dance move is done. Catboy is reluctant to do it, fearing that he’ll mess up again. He suggests another plan, though they tell him that he’ll be fine and review the move. He tries again, this time at Super Cat Speed, but he crashes into the dome, although Gekko catches him. Meanwhile, Luna Girl places the disco ball with the loudspeakers.
To avoid any further incidents with trying the Spinning Tornado, despite being the only one fast enough to dig under the dome, Catboy advises that the team work together to barge through using their powers. This only results in them being pushed back. Catboy next tries to Super Cat Speed around the dome so it’ll lift up in the air. He eventually gets tired, and the dome hits the ground, activating the moonlights. Soon, Luna Girl comes back with the balloons and party streamers and teases Catboy. The team tries convincing him to do the move, but it falls on deaf ears as he has another plan.
The team uses furballs and the Cat-Car’s Cat-a-Pult to break through the dome. Instead, the projectiles bounce around, forcing Catboy to eject when they hit the vehicle and placing HQ at risk of being wrecked. As the team takes cover, he apologizes for making things worse and not listening to them about the Spinning Tornado move, all because he was afraid of being laughed at for messing it up. He becomes determined to perform it so they can escape, no matter how much he messes up.
As Catboy attempts to do the Spinning Tornado, Luna Girl returns with the stage and continues making fun of him for messing up. Nevertheless, he ignores her comments, and with the team’s support and encouragement, he soon perfects the move and digs their way out of the dome. The team then stops Luna Girl before she escapes with the stage. Gekko catches it, and Catboy uses the Luna Magnet to deactivate the Lunar Dome. Luna Girl is frustrated at first, but when Catboy remarks on how she has great rhythm with her stomping and tells her to show some moves, she calms down.
While Owlette and Gekko return the dance equipment to the school, Catboy and Luna Girl perform the Spinning Tornado together and proclaim the signature victory phrase. The next day, Connor, Amaya, and Greg continue practicing the move; Connor is improving, though he falls down. However, the kids are intrigued by what they consider to be a new dance move. Connor decides to call it the Slippy Spin and invites everyone to try it with him.
Moral/Lesson
- You shouldn't worry about how people might laugh at you, and not let embarrassment hinder you. You must keep trying.
Trivia
- Throughout the episode, the PJ Masks did the following dance moves:
- The sprinkler
- The wave
- The robot (which was intended to be an imitation of the PJ Masks clones Romeo created in "Catboy VS. Robo-Cat")
- The spinning tornado
- The slippy-spin
- Luna Girl acts friendly towards the PJ Masks (specifically Catboy) again. Catboy complimented her stomping and compared it to dancing, followed by Catboy teaching her some dance moves. They concluded the night by saying "PJ Masks, all shout hooray, 'cause in the night, we saved the par-tay!".
- This is the first time Luna Girl joins in on the PJ Masks' victory phrase.
- This is the first and only episode to have David Lopez and Lila Peuscet as the storyboard artists.
