Synopsis
The episode begins with Munki-gu stealing a magical potion from the pagoda. The next day, the class is decorating for Chinese New Year tomorrow. Greg shows Connor and Amaya the lizard float he decorated for the parade, though they also find paw prints on there, which they assume belong to the Wolfies.
That night, upon arriving at HQ, the PJ Masks find An Yu inside. She informs them about Munki-gu, who is the one responsible for the leftover paw prints, and a magical potion he’s stolen. She expresses shame that she wasn’t able to stop him. The team assures her that they’ll stop him, especially since she’s not used to the city, nor do her powers work there.
After finding Munki-gu with the potion and the dragon float on the PJ Picture Player, the four kids drive out to confront him. Munki-gu throws a bunch of bananas at them, then pours the mixture on the float to turn it into a real dragon, revealing that the potion is a dragon potion. He plans to use the dragon-turned float for fun and tricks. Although still ashamed that she let him escape with the potion, An Yu returns to Mystery Mountain to do some research on it while the team goes after him.
Following the chase between the team and Munki-gu, An Yu returns with a book to inform them that there is an ancient dragon riddle to solve and defeat the dragon: “To fight a dragon with fiery eyes, prepare yourself for a friendly surprise.” As she tries to solve the riddle, the team continues their pursuit for Munki-gu. After he hits the team towards another spot in town, he is thrown off the dragon float. Despite his attempts to control it, he hides in a trash can when it becomes aggressive, then leaves.
Gekko saves Owlette after the dragon’s roar pushes her down while attempting to stop it, and Catboy pushes the two to safety before it can attack them. The dragon curses the Gekko-Mobile with its breath, which, as An Yu explains upon her return, though she hasn’t solved the riddle yet, will surround it for a thousand years. The only way to lift the curse is by using mountain power. The team suggests that An Yu stay by the portal so her staff can absorb the power, thereby enabling her to use it to turn the dragon float back to normal once they lead it to her.
However, despite the team’s attempts in using their powers to stop the dragon, it proves to be too powerful. An Yu sees it chasing them and runs over until Munki-gu trips her. She quickly turns her attention back to the dragon cornering the team, Gekko using his Super Gekko Shields to shield them from its breath. Although powerless to stop the dragon, she sacrifices herself in being cursed for a thousand years. Suddenly, because the mountain sensed her need to help her friends, it gives her the power, freeing her from the curse.
Once Catboy distracts the dragon, An Yu uses the mountain power to zap the dragon float back to normal, releasing the curse on the Gekko-Mobile. She also finally realizes the answer to the riddle: the friendly surprise is the power of friendship, which, as the team remarks, is perfect for Chinese New Year. Munki-gu pops out and plans to use the remaining dragon potion on the float again so it can do what it says this time. An Yu zaps him before he can do so, making him drop the potion, leaving the kids to return the float to school so everyone can celebrate Chinese New Year tomorrow.
