Synopsis

The episode begins with An Yu training in the pagoda when she hears rattling sounds. She checks to see the drawer containing the Munki-gu Statue empty, and after she saves a vase when it gets knocked over, she hears the statue chatter before noticing the open pagoda doors. The next day, Amaya notifies Connor and Greg, the latter training Lionel, of An Yu’s note found by her room window saying she needs help with a monkey, much to Greg’s excitement.

That night, An Yu explains who Munki-gu is; he is a magical monkey trickster who was frozen into a statue by a sorcerer for being too naughty. However, because Night Ninja messed with the statue, he is on the loose. Catboy and Owlette go with An Yu to find him while Gekko waits in the pagoda in case he returns. Before they leave to do so, An Yu warns him not to pat the statue’s head three times, or else he will be free.

After hearing Munki-gu’s voice, Gekko searches for the statue until it appears behind him. He places it on a table, feeling bad for him and thinking about training him, but touches its head two times. Munki-gu is soon freed after he touches it again for the third time while trying to save it from falling. Gekko is worried that An Yu’s going to be upset, so he decides to train him. It doesn’t go well, though; Munki-gu finds the Wand of Storms and uses it to fly Gekko around, then out of the pagoda.

Catboy, Owlette, and An Yu return to the pagoda upon hearing Gekko’s voice. Fearing that An Yu might turn Munki-gu back into a statue if he tells the truth, Gekko tells them that he’s practicing his jumps to keep himself busy. After they leave, he resumes to train Munki-gu so she can be okay about it then, only for him to be thrown into a statue. An Yu flies back as her staff sensed a disturbance, though he assures her it might be faulty and leads her out to continue the search.

Although ashamed of lying while at the same time being entertained by Munki-gu’s tricks, Gekko informs him that he needs to train him. He ignores him and continues to make him laugh, then messes around with the dragon statues, making them angry. Gekko moves him out of the way when they fire dragon tongue and mountain splats, although he steps on a trap that sends them down to the secret cave where the Transforming Splat is located. Despite his warnings to stop, Munki-gu throws a splat at the red dragon statue and continues being naughty, causing Mystery Mountain to become angry.

Gekko and Munki-gu are blown out of the cave, then take cover when the dragon tongue splats capture Catboy, Owlette, and An Yu once they return. Gekko apologizes for lying, thinking that he could train Munki-gu. He responds that it’s nearly impossible to do so because he is a trickster. To accomplish this, An Yu informs that there is an ancient riddle mentioning backward steps and nifty kicks. Gekko dances to entertain and have Munki-gu join him, then enlists his help to calm the mountain since he likes making him laugh.

After Gekko retrieves what Munki-gu claims to be his dancing boots locked inside a cage to best help him dance, the two dance in front of the golden dragon statue. The mountain settles down, and Catboy, Owlette, and An Yu are released. Munki-gu pulls out a bunch of bananas, despite Gekko offering him one as a thank-you for his help. Suddenly, after one more trick, he flies towards the town, revealing that the dancing boots are actually magic flying boots.

With Gekko determined to fix his mistake, the PJ Masks go after Munki-gu while An Yu stays in Mystery Mountain to calm it down further.
