Gameplay

In the game, players have to navigate the 3 PJ Masks and their vehicles through various levels based on locations from the tv-series. The main goal in each level is to collect up to 200 gems while dodging obstacles, and ultimately complete the mission related to that level.

The level sections in which the player controls one of the heroes are designed like 2D-style platform games, where the players character can move left, right, up and down. The sections where the player controls one of the vehicles are designed like racing games, with the vehicle being seen from behind and moving away from the player, who can steer the vehicle to either left or right.

Each of the 3 PJs has special abilities:

  • Catboy has a super jump, that allows him to reach higher platforms. He can also use his Super Cat Speed in fights or to get past traps, and use his Cat Ears to find out what way a villain went.
  • Gekko can climb on walls and thus get to higher or lower floors, as well as dodge objects blocking his path. He can use his Super Gekko Camouflage to sneak past opponents or his super Gekko Muscles to get obstacles out of the way. In battle he can use his Super Gekko Shields.
  • Owlette can fly, which allows her to reach high places neither Catboy or Gekko can get to. She can also use her Owl Wing Wind to get rid of clouds, smoke or gasses that block her path, and use her Owl Feathers in battle. She can also rely on her Owl Eyes to track down a villain.

The two heroes currently not controlled by the player will frequently give the player advice about how to play, or warnings about upcoming hazards.

To get 100% score on a level a player has to collect all 200 gems and the 3 amulets of the PJ Masks.

Levels

There are 16 levels in total:

  • The Robot's Homework: The PJs recall how during the day the assignments they made for their homework suddenly went missing, and learn Romeo is behind it. The player has to first navigate the City with the Cat-Car and then have the PJs scout the city's rooftops to find Romeo and Robot. When catching up with the villains, Romeo reveals he took the homework to make Robot smart enough to take over the world. The player must defeat them in a fight to get the stolen homework back.
  • Balloons in the City: Night Ninja and his Ninjalinos are stealing stuff from the city by tying balloons to the objects, causing them to float away. The player has to scout the city with the Owl-Glider and then navigate the rooftops with the PJ Masks to track Night Ninja down. They ultimately find Night Ninja relaxing on a rooftop, and after beating him and his Ninjalinos in a fight the PJ's take back the stolen property.
  • The Stink Gas: A foul smelling gas is coming from the sewers and the PJs must track down the source. The player first has to navigate the sewers and the moat with the Gekko-Mobile, and then further investigate the caves and waters under the city with the 3 PJ Masks (who are wearing their PJ Spacesuits for this mission). Eventually they learn Romeo is behind the gas, because he wants to force everybody to evacuate the city so he can take over. The PJs must fight Romeo and Robot to stop the plan.
  • Super Shiny Moon: The PJs are feeling sleepy, since the moon is suddenly shining unusually bright, preventing anyone from sleeping. They learn Luna Girl is behind the bright moon. The player first navigates the city with the Cat-Car, and then has to investigate the streets and alleyways as the 3 PJ Masks. When they find Luna, she reveals the brighter moon has given both her and her Moths more power. The PJs must defeat the Moths and Luna in a fight and steal her Luna Magnet to restore the moon back to normal.
  • The Keys to the Museum: Gekko is sad because he hoped to visit the Museum but somehow it has been closed all week. When the PJs notice Robot at the museum, they fear Romeo is behind this. The player has to use the Gekko-Mobile to navigate the underground caves and moat, and then explore the caves as the PJ Masks. When they find Romeo he admits he had Robot close the museum to keep the PJ Masks from finding him, as the museum has a direct connection to the underground caves. The PJs must defeat Robot and Romeo to get the keys to the museum back.
  • Moonfizzle Balls in the Park: The PJs notice everybody at their school seemed to be in a trance today, and learn Luna Girl has hypnotized people with her Moonfizzle Balls. The PJs take the Owl-Glider to get to The Park and then explore the park itself to find Luna Girl. When Luna is found, the PJs must fight her to stop her plan.
  • The Secrets of the PJ Masks: Gekko is reading a journal he's been keeping of the PJs adventures when PJ Robot alerts the team to the fact that the city is covered in Sticky Splat. The PJs take the Cat-Car to search the city for Night Ninja, but once they are in the city PJ Robot alerts them that Night Ninja is in HQ. The PJs must race back to HQ, where they confront Night Ninja, who has taken Gekko's journal to learn the PJs secrets. The PJs must defeat Night Ninja and the Ninjalinos to get the journal back.
  • Romeo Harvests the Moon: Luna Girl comes to ask the PJ Masks for help; Romeo stole her Lunar Magnet and took it to the moon. The PJs reluctantly agree to help her. They first have to navigate space with the Rocketship, and then navigate the moon itself. They ultimately find Romeo, who is using the Lunar Magnet to harvest the Moon Crystals. The PJs must defeat him to get Luna's magnet back. Once they do however, Luna uses the Moon Crystals to turn on the PJs and sends them back to Earth, resulting in an ending where Luna shouts her variation of the PJs usual victory cry.
  • You Too, Luna Girl?: In a direct continuation of the previous mission, the PJs must go back to the moon to stop Luna Girl. Again the player first controls the Rocketship while flying through space, and then the 3 PJs as they navigate the moon. The level ends with a confrontation between the heroes and Luna Girl in the Lunar Fortress, where the heroes must take away Luna's crystals to depower her so they can take her back to Earth.
  • Spy Cameras All Around: The PJs notice that lately Romeo always seems to be one step ahead of them, and decide to track him down. They scout the city with the Owl-Glider, and find there are spy cameras flying around everywhere. They then have to navigate the streets and rooftops to find Romeo. When he is found Romeo admits he has been using Spy Cameras to know what the PJs are up to. After the heroes defeat him and Robot in a fight, Romeo is forced to destroy all his cameras.
  • The Powers from the Rocks: The PJs learn that Night Ninja has gone to Mystery Mountain, which can only mean trouble. They use the Gekko-Mobile to get to the mountain, and then have to climb the mouontain itself. They eventually find Night Ninja in The Pagoda, where he is in the process of completing a ritual to get more power from magical stones. The PJs must stop the ritual by destroying the stones.
  • The Park is Closed: The park is closed for renovations, but Gekko claims her heard people exercising there earlier that day. They notice the people Gekko heard are Ninjalinos, and take the Cat-Car to get to the park, and then navigate the park to find Night Ninja. They then learn there were no renovations; Night Ninja locked the gates to the park to keep the place for himself. The PJs must defeat him in a fight to win the level.
  • Moths in HQ: The PJs notice Luna Girl is causing random chaos in the city. Catboy finds it suspicious and thinks it's a trap, but the PJs decide to investigate anyway. They take the Gekko-Mobile into the city, but once there they learn Catboy was right; Luna was just distracting them so she could infiltrate HQ. The heroes have to hurry back to HQ, where they have to defeat Luna to get their HQ back.
  • Mystical Staff: Gekko found a scroll in the library about the legendary Dragon King who was imprisoned in a staff that is now hidden in Mystery Mountain. When they learn Night Ninja is also on Mystery Mountain, the PJs head there in the Cat-Car. They need to scale the mountain to get to the Pagoda, where Night Ninja has found the staff and plans to unleash the Dragon King in hopes the king will grand him any wish he has. The PJs have to fight Night Ninja to get the staff.
  • Drones in the Zone: The whole city is suffering from a power outage that even affects HQ. When the PJs notice Fly Bots in the city, they suspect Romeo is behind it. They take the Owl-Glider to get to the Sky Factory, and then have to navigate the Sky Factory itself. They find Romeo and must defeat his Fly Bots, but after they do so, Romeo activates a trap door and the PJs fall out of the Sky Factory. PJ Robot is able to save them with the Owl-Glider, but Romeo is still at large.
  • Bad Guys United: In a direct continuation of the previous mission, the PJs regroup in HQ and learn Romeo, Night Ninja and Luna Girl have joined forces. Despite the odds, the PJs again take the Owl-Glider for another attack against the villains. They fly back to the Sky Factory and must once more make their way through the Sky Factory. They ultimately find the three villains, and must defeat them in a final battle.
