Gameplay

The game features a board that shows The Park and the PJ Masks' HQ. There are 3 paths that run from the park entrance to HQ, each with a different color; purple, blue and yellow. Besides these main paths there are several uncolored paths that connect the three main paths. All these paths are split in squares, along which the three PJ Masks and Romeo and his robots can move.

No player assumes the role of one specific character, as each player can move any piece, be it hero or villain. Therefore, players are not competing against each other as is usually the case in boardgames, but have to work together to figure out the best strategy to win based on the situation and the cards they are given.

The hero characters are Owlette, Catboy and Gekko. Romeo's robots come in colors corresponding with the three main paths. Each group of robots has it's own starting point on the board. The heroes likewise have their own starting points. The robots can only move along the paths in their designated color, and they move by forming a chain of robots along these paths. The heroes can move along all the paths.

Each round, players draw a card from a pile. Most of these cards contains 2 or 3 actions, two of which must be performed:

  • The top half of the card contains an action for Romeo, and indicates if he can add another robot to his army on the pathway he is currently standing, or if Romeo himself moves to a differently colored pathway. The player drawing the card is obligated to perform this action first, even if it puts the heroes at a disadvantage or even causes them to lose the game. If Romeo is allowd to place another robot on a certain path, this robot must go to the first square from the entrance that currently has no robot.
  • The bottom half of the card contains actions for the heroes, indicating which hero can move a certain number of squares.
    • Cards that depict two heroes allow the player to choose between these heroes and move one of them as they see fit.
    • The bottom half can only contain only 1 hero, and a picture of Romeo's lab. In this case, the player cannot choose between the heroes but must move the hero indicated by the card. The power level of Romeo's lab is decreased by 1 if the other action on the card is completed.

If a robot lands on a square occupied by a hero, the hero is send back to his/her start position, but if a hero lands on a square occupied by a robot, the robot is taken out of the game, which interrupts the chain of robots along that particular pathway. The PJ Masks characters can only move up until the first square occupied by a robot, even if the action depicted on the card allows them to move more squares.

Goal for Romeo is to form an uninterrupted chain of robots from the park entrance to HQ along any of the three colored paths, at which point he has conquered HQ and the players loose the game. Goal of the heroes is to reduce the power level of Romeo's lab from 7 to 0, at which point the attack is repelled and the players win the game.

Besides the regular move cards, the game also has 3 special cards for each of the heroes that allows them to use their superpowers:

  • Catboy's card, Super Cat Speed, allows the player to instantly move Catboy's token to any square occupied by a robot anywhere on the board, and thus take out that robot.
  • Owlette's card, Owl Eyes, allows the player drawing it to look at the next three cards on top of the pile, and pick one to play.
  • Gekko's card, Super Gekko Muscles, allows the player to move Gekko's token four spaces and take out any robot he encounters, temporarily ignoring the rule that the heroes must stop at the first robot.
