Synopsis

Part 1

The episode opens in the pagoda where An Yu is meditating until the Ninjalinos break in and steal three of her relics: the Wand of Storms, Urn of Dragon Roars, and Petrifying Dragon Stone, plus some scrolls. An Yu has no choice but to chase them to the city, ending up losing her powers as they don't work there. For a moment, she considers using a forbidden spell, but decides against it and instead plans to ask the PJ Masks for help.

The next day, as Connor, Amaya, and Greg leave the Comic Book Store, they notice a scroll from An Yu she left behind last night, so that night, they transform into their superhero identities and meet up with her outside the portal. They witness firsthand how the Ninjalinos and Night Ninja are using the relics to cause trouble, so the PJs summon the PJ Riders to chase after them. They are unsuccessful, however, and end up defeated. Owlette is worried that the ninjas are going to wreck the city, so An Yu tells them that she can use an ancient spell to get some power in her staff. The only catch is that it's forbidden. The PJs, though, convince her that this is an emergency, and An Yu agrees. As she explains the spell to the PJs, a Ninjalino eavesdrops on them. He then goes to the caves of Mystery Mountain, where Night Ninja awaits him. As it turns out, this is exactly what Night Ninja was planning all along.

As An Yu begins the ritual to perform the spell, Night Ninja uses the stolen scrolls to perform a spell of his own. With the spell completed and her staff now being empowered in the city, An Yu chases after the Ninjalinos and retrieves all the stolen relics, but she fails to notice the ominous storm clouds that are gathering around Mystery Mountain until it's too late. In the cave, Night Ninja orders Mystery Mountain to chase after An Yu's staff. The mountain thus breaks out of its dimension and begins to float over the city, raining down Sticky Splat everywhere.

As Night Ninja gloats about his plan coming to fruition, the volcano next to the pagoda suddenly begins to erupt, forcing Night Ninja to evacuate. Night Ninja and An Yu's actions combined have made the mountain so angry that it won't listen to anyone anymore. An Yu desperately tries to send the mountain back to its own dimension, but the mountain fights back and zaps An Yu's staff, breaking it into multiple parts that scatter across the city.

Part 2

The Ninjalinos land with their parachutes in the museum. Night Ninja needs a book about training so hopefully he can get control over the mountain again, but unfortunately, there are no books about mountains. Elsewhere, An Yu laments over the loss of her staff and how she is unable to stop Mystery Mountain. The PJs know they have to do something fast before everyone in the city notices the mountain floating in the sky, so they offer to help find the staff's pieces, although An Yu is unsure that she can ever send the mountain back, even if they find them all. Suddenly, the mountain explodes more splat into the city, forcing the heroes to seek shelter in the park. An Yu realizes she has no choice but to make things right, as hard as it may be.

As the PJs set out to find the pieces, Night Ninja overhears them and plots to find the pieces of the staff for himself so he can control the mountain. The PJs and PJ Riders are able to find some pieces, but as Gekko finds another piece, a Ninjalino snatches it away from him, though not for long as Catboy uses his Cat Stripes to snatch it away from him. An Yu is getting impatient with how much time it's taking to find the pieces, so Gekko gets an idea of taking her to HQ while Catboy and Owlette continue finding the other pieces.

In HQ, Gekko takes An Yu to his room and shows her his new Lizard Sensors. He uses them to feel where the other pieces are, and notifies his friends about the locations: the Town Hall and Canal Street. With this information, Owlette and Catboy are able to find most of the pieces, while An Yu and PJ Robot keep track of their progress with the PJ Picture Player. The staff is almost complete again, but just as Catboy wants to add the final piece, a Ninjalino snatches it away from him and brings it to Night Ninja. Night Ninja is not happy that one tiny piece is all his Ninjalinos managed to get. As he chews them out for their failure, Mystery Mountain drops another huge splat ball, which lands on top of the villains and traps them. Night Ninja drops the piece, and Owlette retrieves it. With all of them fully assembled, the staff is complete.

Catboy and Owlette meet up with An Yu and Gekko in Portal Alley. An Yu claims her last attempt to send Mystery Mountain back failed because she used the power against the mountain. Now, she is going to give all the power back to the Mountain forever, including her power. The mountain will be gone, but at the price of An Yu being stranded in the city as an ordinary girl forever. She acccepts this fate and performs the ritual. Owlette protests, but An Yu claims there is no other way to do this and asks the PJs to help her. Reluctantly, the PJs cheer her on. An Yu completes the ritual, which sends Mystery Mountain back to its own dimension and closes the portal. When she's done, her staff is turned into regular bamboo, and An Yu's only way home is seemingly closed off to her for all eternity. Gekko attempts to open it, but to no avail.

As An Yu leaves, her staff suddenly begins to glow again. Encouraged by Gekko, she tries to open the portal, and it works. The staff even returns to its regular look. An Yu doesn't understand what happened, but Owlette theorizes that she did the right thing in the end by giving up everything to save the city, and the Mountain rewarded her for it. An Yu can happily go back to the mountain again, while the team shouts their victory phrase.

    • The first episode was in "An Yu and the Cave Stones."
  • The Ninjalinos' line, "Run!", is taken from "Teeny Weeny to the Rescue."
  • One of the books Night Ninja finds is on how to train dragons, which may be a reference to the How to Train Your Dragon franchise from DreamWorks.

Errors

  • When An Yu starts sobbing after seeing her staff turn into bamboo, she has Luna Girl's voice.
